A Guide for Writers of Druantia Stories
by
Wyldewood
Hail and Welcome Friends of Druantia!
If you are reading this, then chances are you have read one or more of the Druantia stories posted to this place. We hope you loved the already posted writings and we also hope these works inspired you to read the coming stories and, perhaps, to even join our writer group as an active writer. If you are interested in writing stories, this brief guideline will help you in becoming acquainted with the background, the boundaries and rules of this fantasy world that you are expected to meet and follow in order to make your stories fitting in with the original concept of the Druantian world and the already published stories.
As a writer you may either chose
- to write stories from the aspect of the Amazon Super Soldiers (ASS) AND/OR
- to write stories taking place in one of the already existing Druantian territories (see more info below), AND/OR
- to create a new territory of Druantians with its own Champions, etc. and write about their fighting the ASS (in this latter case it would be good (i.e. it is recommended but not required) to write a couple of stories as a warm up exercise if we may say so for either the ASS or one of the already existing territories let it be either the Southeaster Territory or one of the territories created by writers joined since the publication of this Guide before).
Of course, any writer may collaborate with any other writer(s) in writing stories let they be either individual ones or parts of a longer/multipart story-line.
The Amazon Super Soldiers and the already established Druantian territories
Currently, this is the original core for the stories; it consists of the ASS group serving as the bad gals who want to terrorize and take over the world, and a region of land of Druantians who are fighting back. This is called the Southeastern Territories and is located in what used to be the United States and composed of the several former states of the Southeastern Quadrant.
Lead Writer for the ASS is Tempora
Lead Writer for the Southeastern Territories is Wyldewood
Creating New Territories of Druantia
Of course, the teritories listed above are not the only areas of Druantia; there are many of them within the existing world just waiting for a capable writer to step in, take control and start to develop it. Once you have established your own Druantian territory (it is made viable and operating by composing an intro of sorts about its background and a starter story related to the Champion(s) of this territory and/or the ASS operations related to this area, etc.), youll automatically become the Lead Writer in this section of Druantia. Other writers may contact you if they wish to write stories based on action and activities in your part of the world.
Basic Expectations and Rules
Be an avid fan of female vs. female fighting and know what such is all about. Be able to express it in writing, with attention to stories with details. We are looking for writers who are willing to sit down and create a story that will draw the readers in to the characters and the world they are in as well. It is not just a few short paragraphs with no particulars or details what we mean by a story but a well-written text that is fairly rich in details, etc.
Writing stories for this world is not an obligation but a fun. Any contribution is welcome, and we will gladly accept a well-written story even if its writer does not have any long term plans, so to say. We hope, however, that there will be writers interested in long term co-operation, writers willing to write multiple stories based on this world. We actively discuss our work with each other, by sending stories in progress via e-mail and using chat services IRC, ICQ, Skype, etc., etc. so we can pick them over to ensure compatibility with the Druantian world as a whole, as well as with the territories and/or Champions/characters of the Lead Writer of the territory wherein the story takes place in order to ensure the stories follow the perceptions of the Lead Writers characters and land areas. This means that there is a lot of work (the writing itself and, of course, the correcting/modifying/etc. of the under construction story , a lot of correspondence, discussion, etc.) until a story becomes ripe for publication.
Know the Druantian worlds background and history, and keep it realistic! Writers need to take time to read the history of Druantia (as it can be read in the Intro published on this site, as well as in the history-related elements of the already published femfight stories and the various notes in the Writers Notes section) in order to have a good base to start their writing on. Keep your stories realistic (in other words: within the boundaries of the Druantia world as well as based on the character guidelines).
Be ready to create your own Champions/characters. Of course, you may write stories without having a Chapion (a Druantian character) of your own but we would like to encourage you to create an own character; and if you feel you would be capable of doing them actively, you may also create further characters. Again, be realistic while creating a Druantian character (for e.g.: the Amazon Super Soldiers are genetically engineered, very powerful, approx. 200 lbs., heavy creatures. It is rather improbable that a Druantian standing at 5 and weighing only some 100 lbs. could effectively fight them...). All characters of the Druantian world have just a first name that can be either a normal/conventional one (June, Carla or Rhonda to mention only the names of the already existing Champions), a more fantasy style name (Leetah, Talim or Lree to mention characters appearing in Wyldewoods stories), or even a fancy name (for e.g. one of the Super Soldiers is called Plague). Please chose a couple of images that will serve to illustrate your Champions outer appearance on The Druantia Project page. The images may be simple photographs, pictures (3D poser image, for e.g.) created by a graphic software, etc. If you have artistic talent your own drawings/paintings, etc. would be very welcome!
Be interactive! We are, in a sense, a writing team. If you create a new territory and write stories for it, this makes you the Lead Writer of your territory and you need to communicate with other Writers as noted above. We toss out ideas for stories, oft help each other develop theirs with suggestions based on our knowledge of the world, and we welcome your thoughts and suggestions in turn. Druantia is still a very young world, ready for expansion and development, and it can branch out in different directions, possibly new and unexplored ones that fit in the few general guidelines we have established. Lets hear yours!
